I get this call all the time in my business office. I answer as always (no caller ID) and there is a hang up. So I decided to spend the 75c to *69 and see this number. Here I googled it and there is a list of bitches about the same thing. I think it is an automated thing that not only ruins your cell phone minutes, but it might be a form of "marketing" - when and where people are available.

We had our home phone number changed about a year ago. I Googled my new phone number and found that it was a fax number from a company that's now out of business. Anyway, I keep getting these annoying calls ANYTIME during the day or night. After getting one this morning at about 3:00 A.M., I decided to Google 206-415-8547 and found this site. It's always a fax machine calling. When i call 206-415-8547, I always get a fast busy signal. If I don't answer when they call, the fax rings go to messages in my answer machine section of my phone. This is a nuisance and I feel like I'm being harrassed. I registered on the Do Not Call list last year. Someone has posted to notify the Do Not Call agency and report this number. And to also call the FTC. I will post results here after I read the entries on this site.

I recently moved and got a new phone number. Ever since I moved in, I have been getting constantly called by fax machines, even between 1 and 3am PST. I went on vacation a few months ago and came home to 13 "fax machine beep" messages. They usually come up as Unknown Name/Unknown Number, but most recently (12/1 at 1:54am), it came up as 206-415-8547 Health Plans.I just put myself on the no-not-call list and paid to get anonymous call block. After reading all of the posts here, I'm not holding out much hope.

Marathon Communications (800 919 1000) continues to provide (206) numbers to illegal telemarketers.This allows the TM to hide their idenity from the public. When you ask who called, they refuse to tell you. They site the privacy of their customers. The telemarketer just makes up a fake name for the caller ID and the (206) number won't allow a call back or its mailbox is full. The only way to find out who owns the number is to subpoena Marathon. Encourage your Attorney General to do this. Call Chistopher Gillen,Marathon lawyer, and file a complaint. If you live in Washington and Marathon Communications is your phone company please, change to an honest company.Guardian Communications the telemarketer behind most (206) calls was sued today by North Carolina. 12-01-05_4:04 AM, received a call that announced "my mistake, wrong number".Call was trapped and traced successfully. *69 identified 206 415 8547 as the calling number which is listed to Marathon Communications.I just called asking if they have a security or fraud department. The bimbo had no clue, had to place me on hold to find out. They do not. When asked to speak with higher mnanagement, I was transfered to a gum chewing teeny booper who didn't even know what day of the week it was.I was asked what the call was about, I did tell them I was getting annoyance calls, I did not give her any number, her response was; " we sold that number to someone and we no longer own it."When asked who they sold it to, the answer was "we don't know."However, in an effort to maintain customer satisfaction (to which I am not) they were more then willing to contact the subscriber to tell them to stop calling. When I asked how coould you call the party when you just told me you don't know who it is?She responded, we just can!Before my head expolded, I advised this individual that I'll just sue the conmpany for telemarketing violations.Her response, "go ahead, you won't get anywheres".

Over the past few days I had received several calls from this number (206-415-9365). The company is Evergreen Marketing (http://www.evergreensales.net/). I contacted them and told them to cease & desist. Their response: We were conducting business on behalf of your cable company (Insight Communications) and thus have a right to contact you. (I've told my cable company on several occasions that if I want new products or services, I'll contact them--not the other way around. They listen SOOOOOOOOOO well.)I encourage others who are getting calls from the same number to contact their telephone or cable providers and ask not be contacted by third parties. This *may* help the situation.

Hey Twin Dragon. I see that you have gotten a call as well from 231-224-2018. I keep trying to call them back, and only get a fast busy signal. Could you tell me who they are please? Also about a month ago, Ciami of Ormond started calling. When I answered my phone it was only someone breathing into it, then hung up on me. They continue calling back, and when you go to call them back, it rings up as Summer Bay Resorts, and will tell you their message box is full. Ciami of Ormond's number is 386-677-1590. Not sure how they got my number all the way over here, but they sure as hell are relentless, lol.

I've hooked up my fax machine overnight and several of these calls ended up being fax solicitations (vacations, health insurance, etc...) Too bad I didn't have it hooked up last night! Here is their e-mail sales@evergreensales.net and their 800 number 1-800-768-7880. What I am doing is complain to their clients that I have business with and tell them about the unscrupulous company the have chosen to represent them. I got a call from 2064159247 today and answered because I thought it might be work related.It was a spanish recording telling me that I had one a prize and to press 1 if I wanted to claim it.I repeated it twice and I just hung up because I figured I was wasting long distance minutes.If you get a call from this number, I would recommend not to waste your time or your 10 cents.

I live in southern california and received a call at 11:43am, while i was in class. I didn't pick up. I looked up the number and just know its in Seattle/Tacoma much everyone else is mentioning. I"m a verizon customer. I've looked up private numbers before but it does cost money 20 bucks or so, to do such a look up. I'm sure there is another way to find out what it is exactly.

Today, while I was at work (I forgot my cell phone at home) I recieved, and missed, a call from (206) 415-9247. I did a reverse look-up and found nothing. I've called several times and it has been busy, as many of the people who've posted here have noticed also. I did a web search and happened across this message board and I am now consumed by curiosity. This site will now temporarily be on my favorites and I will do some minor investigating. If I discover anything about this number I will post again. My boyfriend works with a major wireless service provider so I will see if he knows anything or can provide me with a starting point on where to look.Thanks for posting folks.

After finding this site and reading of the many others that are getting these same calls, I was wondering if anybody has reported this to a government agency? This is on my cellphone so it cost me minutes (money) to answer this spanish speaking machine. Surely that is illegal, right? I assuming the caller id is spoofed and probalby isn't in Washinton.Thanks and I'm calling my cell company today.

Missed call 4:30 10-12-05 (I am also with Cingular) I applied for jobs in seattle and was all excited, was on web trying to find out which company before I dialed back. Anyway... maybe the company placing calls are trying to build a list of valid cell numbers, or something to do with gps locations... it has to be an auto-dialer, because it appears that calls are placed to two different people at very close to (virtually) the same time?? Also, if there are this many of us who have noticed the weirdness, there are probably many times more people whe received calls and who have not investigated. If it has been going on for awhile, and people are complaining, why hasn't it stopped??? sorry, I didnt expect this..

I got a call from 1-206-415-9247 on my cell phone. I attempted to return the call but it is always busy. I put the number into google and found this site and see that this must be some random program for spam calls because the number has been busy for 24 hours. Is this number from Direct TV affiliates?

I've been going through this for months. I have filed complaints with the WA attorney Generals office and even gave them the names of the Priniples making these Satelite TV calls. Nothing. I called Direct TV's executive offices and informed them about people calling and claiming to be direct representatives and they said "it is not there duty to police there sub-agents. Maybe if everytime everyone called direct TV and complained each time they get a harrassing call, this would start to abate. Time to Start a boycott of direct TV? I called and kept pressing "0" utill anoying invalid entry stoped. States hours are 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM Eastern time M-F. AM a BOA customer. Didn't speak to anyone as it's 9:25PM Friday. 206-415-9365 (Evergreen)has appeared on my home caller ID twice. I am a TalkAmerica customer so this appears to not be just a Cingular issue. Hopefully the calls will just stop soon. If it starts occuring often I will contact government authorities. My number is allegedly already on the nationwide do not call list for solicitors.

Nothing like being awaken at 530am by a call. the first thing that pops in your head is "has something terrible has happened.?'" then you pick up the phone and it a Health Plan call. I waited and listen to all options followed the prompts to be lead to a message that there office was closed!!!! Of course their office is f***in closed if it 530am in NY it is 230am their time. I called the carrier and I am lead to voice mail to voice mail--i also called the attorney General's Office who is out of the office until 10/07/2005. that is all i can tell provide. Ok, I just filed a formal complaint with my mobile company against this number incase any wierd charges occur. And I also filed a formal complaint with the FTC (federal trade commission) just incase there is some scam associated with it. Just to be on the safe side I advise anyone who gets a call from this number do not call it back and do not answer it. Call the FTC at 1-877-382-4357. their web site has a complaint form too at www.ftc.gov hope this helps and we can put a stop to this bizarreness.

I called the Marathon Communications number to see what the deal is. I talked to one of their sales people. She told me that a company buys a bogus number to use for the telemarketing. I asked how they got my number and she told me that she doesnt know so I asked if I could buy the number to the company that calls me. She replied no that she or her superiors can release any information about the company that bought the bogus number unless a crime was committed or I had a written letter from a judge. My theory as of now is that they are targeting college aged people. Most of the posts contained something about being in class and I am a college student. I still dont know what the telemarketing call was about I understood very little of it cause I havent taken spanish since college so let me know if anyone understand what they are saying. I pressed one cause I heard uno and he talked alot more but too fast for me.

I was getting calls from the number 231=224-2000 regarding a recording for satelite TV. I stayed on the line and when asked by a women if I was interested in the offer I said "yes" which in turn I was connected to a man who asked me some questions. He asked me how many TVs I wanted the service on and I said 16, and then hung up. Sporatically that day I received calls from 111-111-1111 that came up on my called ID which was a crank caller, who called me a "geek", kept hitting touch tone numbers, and belched into the phone. I started threating to call the company that he affiliated with, and then threating to come kick his ass, which finally ended on me threating him with the police. I then didn't get anymore calls..I'm just waiting for this jerk to call again at like 4 am just to piss me off...If it happens again I'm calling my phone company which is Qwest...

FOR ANYONE RECEVING CALLS FROM GCS/206415-8779 PLEASE READ!!!!!I too am plauged by call from GCS daily. They claim they are calling for my child and need to speak to her regarding benefits of some sort. I do not believe that is even true. the strange part is that they know my first and last name, apologize for bothering me, ask for my daughter again, and when i refuse they hang up. After that incident my husband answers the phone they hang up. Each time I attempt to call them back, the phone is either busy or I am forwarded to an answering machine, or they eventually hang up on me. If anyone else has information they want to share or willing to provide, it will be most appreciated as well as awarded. I am planing a criminal investigation in regards to this matter. I too have been receiving calls from 206-415-9365 and have been hung up on each time. I have been on the do not call list since it begin and even just re-registered over a month age. I have just filed a complaint against this number. When you call the number you will get a recording saying who they are and if you would like to be placed on their do not call list press 1 & enter you 10 digit number they will notify the client. I did try to see if you could press other numbers and get to voice mail or even better a real person but on the third try you will get I am sorry you are having trouble try again later message.206-415-9365 belongs to Evergreen Sales & Marketing http://www.evergreensales.net. What I am doing is complain to their clients that I have business with and tell them about the unscrupulous company the have chosen to represent them. I, too, miss a call from this number. I searched the net and discovered that it is a Washington area code number. I also came across this site and realized that I am not the only one getting calls from his number. When, I called the number I got a busy signal. My advice to every one is not to answer calls from unfamiliar numbers, especially if they are out of state. If it is urgent or important someone will leave a message. Now I have to pay a long distance fee for calling.

I just found out that there is a national registry set up by the government for telemarketers do not call list. The e-mail address is www.donotcall.govI have filed a complaint with the attorney general of where my calls came from and at the attorney generals office of the state that I'm in. I have also filed a complaint with the FCC. So hopefully that will work to get the company to stop calling. 206-415-9148 and 206-278-9031 keep calling me. Its from some kind of reservation company, I think its trying to sell time shares or something like that.

ok, wow, weird. I cant believe this turned up on a google search. I checked the number a few times. I got a call from this about a week ago at almost noon exactly. I have a Nokia pre-payed 7-11 speak out plan. I remember it was noon because I saved it as "Who R U 1200" ... Since I only know like 1 person from Texas. Telemarketing companies face federal lawsuit

A federal lawsuit has been filed against two telemarketing companies based in Moline that have allegedly violated laws related to the national do-not-call registry and use of automated dialers.

According to the suit filed by the U.S. Attorney’s office in U.S. District Court, Central District of Illinois, the companies have abandoned calls, failed to transmit caller identification information and placed calls on behalf of sellers who had not paid National Do Not Call Registry fees.

The defendants include Guardian Communications, in the 1600 block of 7th Street, United States Voice Broadcasting Inc., in the 1900 block of 7th Street, and Kevin Baker, owner and president of Guardian Communications.

Efforts to reach the defendants for comment Wednesday were unsuccessful. A phone number for Guardian Enterprises, which has the same address as Guardian Communications, was disconnected.

The Federal Trade Commission issued a news release Wednesday saying the suit is one of five nationwide filed this week against companies that have violated various telemarketing laws.

The FTC said a stipulated final order was filed with the suit and the two companies will pay $150,000 to settle the case with a remaining $7.8 million judgment suspended because they’re unable to pay.

According to the suit, since 2004 the companies through a joint venture have sold a voice message delivery service that can be used to deliver pre-recorded messages to consumers and their answering machines through a service described as “voice broadcasting.”

The sellers record a message, and the companies use an automated dialer to place calls to a database of telephone numbers either provided by the companies or the seller, the suit states, adding the companies can place up to 20 million phone calls a day.

The defendants have violated federal laws by “abandoning” or not connecting calls to a live representative within two seconds of the consumer answering the phone, the suit states.

According to the suit, the defendants have programmed their equipment to either play a recorded message to the person answering the phone or cancel the call after determining that the phone was not answered by an answering machine or voice-mail system.

“Guardian blasted phone numbers with pre-recorded telemarketing pitches, immediately terminating calls when a live consumer answered,” the FTC said in its news release.

The companies also violated laws requiring that either the name of the telemarketer or seller be displayed to the consumer’s caller ID service, the suit states, adding the calls would say “Cust Service,” “Services, Inc.,” “Card Services,” “LTR” or “DWC.”

The suit further claims that the companies since October 2003 have called numerous numbers in various area codes without their sellers having paid an annual fee for access to telephone numbers included in the National Do Not Call Registry.

The suit claims the defendants could be fined $11,000 for each violation of the FTC Telemarketing Sales Rule. The suit also asks for a court order permanently enjoining the defendants from further violations.
